Should you make own fall door wreaths or buy?
That’s a great question. If you enjoy creating wreaths – and many do – by all means, a DIY one would be great. It can add a special personal touch that’s all you.
However, if you’re not particularly crafty, or maybe just too busy to make your own, there are some fablouous options out there! This post includes several beautiful fall door wreaths that you can order and buy directly from Amazon. Just look for the Amazon links and you can have your own within days. For all you crafty people out there, I also included an additional list of craft supplies you can use to make your own fall door wreaths.
Which color theme to choose?
This one is easy. One of the great things about fall is that it comes with its own color palette. The basic shades are gold, brown and orange. Contrast these with deep green and possibly even amaranth or deep fuchsia pink. Here’s a great example that shows off all of the colors of the fall foliage –
A slightly different interesting palette you can use focuses on silver gray and deep browns. Like in this wreath where silver burlap is used along with dark wood and golden pine cones.
Which motifs work best for fall door wreaths?
Anything that relates to fall, really. Golden maple leaves are a classic, as are oak leaves. You can even make a wreath that’s all about foliage, like this one, with Pine cones and acorns worked in to emphasize its wild natural theme.
You can also work in seasonal fruit, such as grapes, apples and berries. Of course, pumpkins are perfect if you can find ones that are the right size. They bring together Halloween and classic agricultural motifs. When using fruit and vegetables, it’s best to go with a dry version or even a plastic or foam one. You don’t want your fruit to rot or fall off your wreath.

Well, almost. I did promise you one last tip, so here it is –
Add scent to your fall door wreaths.
Work the senses of everyone approaching your front door with the wonderful spices scents of fall. It’s easy to do with natural spices or using natural fragrance oils. Just remember that scent wears off, particularly outside, so add some more occasionally.
Try this concentrated fragrance oil with apples and oranges blended with cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. Just a few drops will do the trick. Or try Febreeze’s Pumpkin Bliss limited fall edition for a wonderful mix of spice and pumpkin.
Over to you now…
