Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? The Tuscan mirror is of course the fairest mirror on any wall. With a nod to the traditional artisans of Tuscany, this set will make any room look luxurious, opulent, and classy. Add candles and set a romantic mood, or place something special on the shelf, and see it’s image doubled in the mirror.

In Feng Shui, this doubling of an image doubles the Chi (vital energy) that that image brings. So, if you put a symbol of growth, prosperity, and love here, you’ll double that Chi in your home. The candles will further raise the Chi there, and are especially auspicious in your fame and reputation zone.

This Tuscan style mirror is just the thing to bring a bit of old world charm to your room decor. The scroll work looks like a carved heirloom, and is echoed in the detailing on the matching candle holders (sconces) and half- moon shaped shelf. This quartet really ties the decor theme together cohesively, and makes a wonderful focal point. The warm hues look like wood and are easy to blend with your room’s color pallet.

Made of poly-resin and glass: the mirror measures 18 inches by 28 inches and 3/4, and is 1 inch thick; the shelf measures 18 inches by 4 and 1/2 inches by 3 and 1/2 inches; each candle holder measures 9 inches by 3 inches by 12 inches.

Here is a stylish decor item for your fire place.  Not only is a fire screen a needed safety precaution so that you don’t accidentally set your home on fire with escaped sparks, the fire screen itself can become a decor accent. Here is a perfect example. Say you want to bring a bit of old world aesthetic to your living room, and have chosen a few lovely antiques. How much more authentic would the room feel, if instead of a plastic electric heater, you had a fireplace framed in this lovely design, with a beautiful flower gracing the center of the screen, and oblong spheres atop its curves, like minarets? The cast iron designs were inspired by the traditional art of Tuscany. Just what you need to add a bit of Southern European charm to your home!

The curvaceous qualities of the design will encourage Chi to flow smoothly for good Feng Shui. Also, having iron near the fire will balance those two elements.

Note the lovely curled designs on the base of the screen. The 3 panel frame and flower will cast beautiful shadows when back lit by the fire. Lighting is a crucial part of decor and design.

This fire place screen is 44 and 1/2 inches wide, I inch thick, and 30 and 3/4 inches high. It makes a wonderful house warming gift (pun intended).

A family’s memories are often made around the dining room table, so dining rooms become places of personal history. When we create dining room decor that reflects the history of our country or continent, we further set the stage for honoring a sense of connection to our past. We are reminded of our heritage and traditions. This imbues the dining atmosphere with a sense of honor and duty to preserving things of value.

Such an atmosphere may help instill good table manners in children, and an awareness of their place in a family legacy. They may also develop an appreciation for a bygone era and knowledge about the history of their people. In this way, formal meals become a time machine and educational tool.

For authentic antiques, one must consult an appraiser who can verify the authenticity of  the item. However, a person on a budget can create the look of an antique with a few handy trick using stain and crackle varnish, and various other artificial aging techniques.

Antiques are often discovered as discarded items, or at thrift stores and garage sales, so keep your eyes open. You can even find antiques in your family’s attic or basement, requiring restoration, but potentially fabulous show pieces.

Antique dining room decor can be fun to create, as the process will take you on a treasure hunt, and cause you to read about the history of decor. Enjoy your journey through time, and enchant your friends with the old world charm of entertaining dinner parties in a room that rediscovers the art of fine dining and classical elegance.
